The Lullaby

  • “As far the waters flow, is as far as my love goes,
  • From the mountains to rivers below,
  •  Is as far as my love goes,
  • Even heaven knows how far my love goes,
  •  As far as the winds may blow, is as far as my love goes,
  • From every flake of snow that falls to the forest below, is how deep my love goes,
  •  How deep my love goes,
  • Even the roots that go far below, are as deep as my love goes,
  • Even heaven knows how far my love goes,
  • As clear as the morning light, from the stars up in the sky,
  • Is my love shining in your eyes, shining in your eyes,
  • Forever my love will grow, for you dear one, I know,
  •  From the mountains covered in snow as far as the valleys below,
  •  Is far as my love will grow, for you dear one, I know,
  • Even heaven knows how far my love grows, for you dear one, I know,
  •  For you dear, I know,
  •                                                   As far as the waters flow, is as far as my love goes.”
Author's Notes/Comments:

This is a song I wrote for a book I've been writing. I couldn't really think of a proper title to give it, so for now I call it "The Lullaby".

Beautiful imagery, and i can

Beautiful imagery, and i can see it as a song too

My mother was a rainbow

My father turned her grey

they loved me like a sky lantern

they watched me fly away

Exquisitely beautiful

The repetition of the long O sound is well deployed and gives a structural unity to the poem.  This is splendid work.
