I’M STILL A MYSTERY TO YOU

How you gonna act?

What you gonna do?

Or say to keep me

at bay thrown off guard.

I’m still a mystery to you

You don’t know what makes me tick;

how the mind is working.

The plot will thicken

I’ll let down my guard

and you’ll penetrate my defense shields.

You’ll think you got it;

found the key to my soul but

I’m still a mystery to you.

You just can’t put your finger on it

and feel the pulsating fever

that percolates in my heart

But you can’t touch the fire

if you can’t find the fire

I’m still a mystery to you

You’re like a rat in a maze

or let’s be nice

and make you a lovely dove

trapped in a labyrinth.

Every corner you turn

leads you into another wall

or blocked off thru-way

The nearer you get

the further you go

the further you go

the nearer you get.

You tell me know I feel

as if you know

but you don’t know

cuz I’m still a mystery to you

All the veils of secrecy

protect me from your glances

X-ray vision can not penetrate

the defense shields remain intact

very much to your chagrin

And my posturing will

continue to perplex your

leave you confused; trying to get a grip

on what is going on

I’m still a mystery to you

and I revel in it

My masks are on;

the dark sunglasses conceal my eyes

block out inspection

and I gleefully exult

in the mystery I remain to you.
