Ode to a Star

Folder:
Completed Poems

There would be an

Ocean under my feet

Were I a star

In the night sky.

Glimmering brightly like a thousand others;

Who occupy this endless expanse of space.

King of kings, man among men;

Atlas, my confidante, hold me up high.

My glory spreads down upon Earth;

From my pinpoint existence in blackness.

I walk upon the oceans, waltz upon the seas;

A beacon ever moving in the lonely night sky.

Nomad of the sky is one, firefly up high another;

Many names I go by in the lands innumerable.

Dwelling with the gods of Olympus;

Men worship me from far and near.

There is no land I have not seen,

Nor land that I never will.

Older than the rocks, I am;

An eternal Jewell of the heavens.

Oh, there would be a

World under my feet

Were I a star

In the night sky.
