work in progress for about a year

Sun on my face, but nothing in my heart.

Life is beautiful, but to feel it i can't start.

The smoke all around me comes to take what's here,

and the only water is a trail of tears.

i love you and give my heart to you;

i smile, happy in your presence;

and if it takes a lifetime, i'll wait

for sweet rain to drive the smoke away.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was inspired by George Harrison's "Blow Away".  I don't like smoke.  One day years ago, there was smoke from a fire, which I couldn't stand.  Then, one morning, the sky was still not blue, but it was clouds instead of smoke (all the smoke was gone), and it rained that day.  I felt like I was experiencing something wonderful and holy.  I refound God temporarily.  I hope it may happen again very very soon.  This poem isn't finished, but I hope to finish it.  In the meantime, I don't want to lose it.
