Mind is a game
On a threshold, labelled insane
And there are screaming scratches
Hammering at walls and at the latches
Desperate to escape
Wailing for calmness to drape
Rising like a heartbeat
Falling like a heartbeat
Feelings are invincible
Through every edge of life
Scattered like dewdrops they tremble
Volatile
I pull myself in and hold my breath
Then burst and roll and bang the floor
Is it my tears or is it my sweat?
Where is the door? Where is the door?
When irregular beats is all you hear
And there's salt on your lips and tongue
When all's all right yet you clutch with fear
And try to remember where your sanity hung
When you lose the ability
To decipher your thoughts
And you lie awake in a dream
Or dream with open eyes
When you're stitching up your seams
But your senses die
When you realise
You started with short lines
And try to pour it all out in long rhymes
When you feel no pain greater
Than a paper cut, like slow poison
When you lose yourself in the now and later
Mind's a game, mind has won
When in the midst of decaying vision you find your clarity
I wouldn't mind, if they called this insanity
