IMMORTAL LOVE

Emeralds and sapphires,
Cannot match,
The deep beauty of 'your' eyes.

The full moon
Too..cannot compare,
With the radiance 'you' spread.

It has spots,
While 'you' are flawless,
In your divine loveliness.

In your gaze,
Seas and heaven merge,
Yet the depth is fathomless.

Inside me,
You are eternal,
Death has failed to make us part.

O Daphne!
What is Juliet*,
Or Laila*, Heer* and Sassi*?

No Miss World,
Or Miss Universe,
Can match your inviolable charm!

Hades sighs,
As you abide in,
My heart as love -- immortal.

Author's Notes/Comments: 

A poem lying stored in between the pages of a 1998 edition of "Tess of the D'urbervilles" and re-discovered while trying to drive home the character "Angel Clare" and the reason which made him leave Tess for some time -- during a discussion with an old acquaintance the day before.
