True Love

All day I think of you

Waiting to see you

Hoping you'll hold me in your arms

I say, "Hello."

You say, "I gotta go."

Why can't you see that I love you?

All my friends love your hair

The muscles you bear

Wondering if you know they're there

I sit and stare

Hoping someday you'll know that I love you.

At your games I always cheer

But I assume I blend in with the crowd

Not even knowing where I'm at

Or if I'm there.

For the dance I get dressed up

And I stand with my friends

Waiting for you to come

But I guess you aren't there

For all the dances are done.

You look at all the prettiest, popularist girls

Listening to their pointless stories

And watching them flip their hair

And bite their nails

Just so you have a hot date

But why can't you see

The love is all in me?

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder

So I guess I'm not beautiful in your eyes

But only if you could see

The inside of me.

I grow up

And after only hatred from you

My love has given away

And I work on just loving me.

I become a famous singer

One with the most beauty

And you notice me

But you had your chance

And now maybe someday you'll see

That beauty is not something you  have

It's something you be.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was the first poem I ever remember writing, and the first poem I wrote in my song book.  Since I wrote it in like eigth grade I think, it's not as mature in the writing structures as others of mine, but I love it.  It's still one of my favorite poems of mine.  I remember re-reading it for the first time and being like, "Wow...I wrote that?  That's good!"  This poem reflects how popular I was in eigth grade...not very.  Everyone thought I was fat and ugly unlike all of the "popular" girls.  I never got too many guys I actually liked.  This is to all the guys I liked that never noticed me because they wanted the "hot" girls.  It shows that in the end I end up on top.  By the way, I say I become a famous singer because it has been a dream of mine since I was born.  Hope you like this taste of the beginning of a hobby/love.

I have to say that this is one of my favorites. Again I feel myself relating. I have had my eye on this really wonderful girl for a long time now and sometimes it seemed as if she didn’t even notice me. You know that rule I had that I wouldn’t break unless you asked me to? Well that’s like the whole you had your chance thing. You could be a famous singer if you really wanted to. I have faith in you.
