BIG-TIME COUNTRY SINGER

Folder:
COUNTRY POEMS

I am a big time country singer.

I play before big crowds of 20,000.

    I make lots of money.

Every place I go, I get a hotel suite.

Thousands want to shake my hand.

Thousands want to get my autography, have dinner with me, date me, marry me.

I don't have time for video arcades or carnivals.

I barely have time to eat.

I try to see the country, and I do, but I am busy doing other things.

I have a wife, and 2 kids, I would like to see more of.

They want to see more of me.

Looking out the window of my bus at night,

  watching the country roll by.

      As the song goes,

the towns and cities seem to look alike.

Denver looks like Dallas or Detriot.

     St. Louis looks like Seattle.

  I am a big-time country singer.

Chris-
I just re read my post...sorry to have not done that before I sent it. lol I didn't mean to imply that your poem was the reason why I didn't pursue my career in the music business. I simply met that the reason you mentioned in your poem....were the same reasons why I didnt pursue that type of lifestyle. You really need to take a step back and look and see what is really important in your life....a career filled with screaming fans shouting your name...all the money you could possibly want....fame, fortune....OR.......someone to come home to at the end of the day....seeing your child off on their first day of school....that sort of thing.

thanks again for sharing the poem. It is really great.

Chris-
I think you have touched on a whole lot of reality in this poem. Especially if the reader is a performer or musician. It is very true...and possibly lonely life for the "musicman". I, too, am a performer. And one of the main reasons why I didn't pursue a career in the music industry was simple because of your poem.

Thanks for sharing.
