Wishing For the End

deep recesses of pain

stained red

open wound

take this away

no shame

gone too soon

last breath

exhale,

in death one is whole

last chance

so right

release this lost soul

Author's Notes/Comments:

Sometimes one feels the weight of life, and the burden of one's mistakes. The more people that abandon you, the more you realize how worthless you are. One day this world will be free of me... and will, no doubt, be a better place.

I too have felt this way a couple of times in my life. Very powerful poem

you are a great poet. Don't lose hope

Susan Costlow's picture

Your words are stark, but quite graphic---you really evoke an image. The world, despite what you currently think, would not be a better place with writing like this forever silenced. This poem is one thing that isn't a mistake, I'm sure there are others. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Ernest Bevans's picture

Light enters a tunnel at one end
the same as we enter the tunnel at
the other. The trick is to travel
the distance knowing that we will
meet light in the middle and be out
the other side into glorious sunshine.
Faith it is the only healing elixir
of the living - it feeds the soul to
travel the distance toward joy!

Free of you - don't be silly, who would
then fashion rose petals and rubies from
blood in the form of these tresured verses?
