If your tank is empty

I rolled and crawled my way from the bottom
And struggled to find a reason to keep waking up
Every morning was a battle and a burden
Every morning was never ever my season
But I stuck in there till I found my reason
I'll succeed not because I must
Not because I'm otherwise confused
at what else I should do
But because I can

I worked at what I needed to be
and didn't work at what I wanted
"Let's go out Chad"
"Grab a beer?"
Not now
I've got more to worry about than consumption
I'll not corrupt my conscience so you can feel better
So you can have a buddy to help you drown
Take that shit downtown
pour it on the ears of another
who's to empty to listen
Who'll lay in that gutter
Someone out there is thirsty for failure
Fill her up

Desperate times?
Find your measures
Stop talking to the mirror
like your alter ego is listening
It's fogging not getting clearer
you're so full of hot air
And if you have someone who is successful
Sitting somewhere close right next to you
And they ever make you feel lower to the ground
It's because there's not a lot of room at the top
and if you never stop they'll more than likely stall
At the top of it all the view is amazing
Enough to phase the worst
Brighten the best
and leave an absolutely undeniable feeling
right in the center of that chest

Hey thanks

Yeah every once in a while I like to write something optimistic. "Bathe in Honor" is another optimistic I've wrote. Mostly all my other stuff is a little out there, but again thank you.
