Her Only Friend

when the wind whipped through her hair i felt like a friend saying "everything was all right"
it was like a huge hug engulfing her and only her, leaving everyone else out of its tight comforting embrace.
the wind it seemed was against her leaving the wind as her only friend

seeing everyone else together and happy reminded her that the wind was her only friend.
everyone else laughed and smiled
the wind seemed to whisper "I'm right here"

as the world turned leaving only her
the wind was the only person saying "I'm your only friend. I'm right here"

every time someone would ask "are you ok?" each time she would think of the wind as her only friend leaving the people around her alone and clueless

the things she used to enjoy seemed pointless now that the only person there was the wind leaving her breathless and wanting more.
the wind it seemed was the only one that cared

the river flowed effortlessly singing its own song watching and waiting for the wind to sing along

with its own sort of song the wind seemed to sing along and she knew that there was more then just the wind that cared.
the river loved with a different tune making the whistling of the wind and the symphony of the river combine to form the most beautiful song

Author's Notes/Comments:

this is not my favorite thing i ever wrote but it was written when i went through a rough breakup. and i guess the river is like a symbol of the tears that never seemed to end. i know it was a little scatter brained.. but at that time i wasn't really sure what the word "coherent" meant.
