Are You A Shower Pee-er? Yes or No?

Folder:
Kodak Memories

The whole class was in an uproar.

We were to have a temporary instructor since our

instructor for the semester had back surgery.

Two months agonizing with a complete stranger!

Oh boy!!!

The class silences.

A man, late thirty-ish, appears in the doorway.

Seemingly boring, dry, and plain in appearance, the class showed signs of displeasure.

Two whole months with a boring instructor.  Whoop dee doo.

This will be definetely a waste of our time.

He searches the room only to see faces unhappy to see him.

Calmly like gentle winds spinning the windmills

the substitute stands poised in position and speaks out affably.

"Before I begin, I want to ask something.  Is anybody out there a shower pee-er?  Yes or no?  Someone answer please."

The class lively after his unexciting appearance guffaws.

No one answers.

He replies to his own question.

"I'm asking because I'm proud to say that I'm one.  I pee while taking a hot shower."

The class laughs uproariously.

Well this is going to be interesting.

He smiles not caring for what could be derision.

Throughout those two months life in class had an extra seasoning to taste, one that doesn't cause us to spit out the "borings."

He's interesting you see.

He really made our class time worth-while.

When he left and our instructor came back we really felt saddened.

I'll never forget this person except for one thing.

I could've lived my life not knowing that I was casually asked that question: "Do you pee in the shower?"

But this is one rare event I've been privelaged to experience (especially that one question).

Now I've got an ice breaker question and a personal story to tell whenever conversations with friends are dead.

Can I ask you, if you want to reply, do you pee in the shower?

Author's Notes/Comments:

My answer, no I don't pee in the shower.  But peeing the in bath tub...oops, shouldn't have said that.  NOT!!!  Just kidding!!!  LOL.  Actually this really happened to me during my grade school years.  If I had to say who was my favorite substitute teacher, it's this guy.  Although somewhat strange he always had the capacity to make us laugh and at the same time, make us learn.  I'll never forget this memorable moment esp. that question.  True, I could've lived my life without knowing that question was asked of me but that's one question I would think no one would dare ask.  So, yes, I am privelaged to experience that question being asked.  That substitute teacher (I won't reveal his name; don't want to embarrass him you know...) is someone confident in what he does and that's something that I respect.  I mean, he was confident enough to ask that one question to a class.  Nobody else I'd guess would do that.  Anyways, this poem/story is meant for a little laughs.  Laughter is always the best medicine you know.  Enjoy.

Hmmm, to pee or not to pee, that is the question.

I think I'll keep the answer to myself.....lol

Sounds like he was a good teacher.

hilarious piece. I remember two teachers from H.S. days- way back haha to 70's, anyway one was named Mr. Reynolds and he looked like those half dummies they use in science class where they can remove face so insides under skin and the neck to trunk plates off to show organs. he could have been the dummies exact twin in looks I kid you know but a fascinating guy. Another was Mr. Ashoff he was a bio teacher about 70 when I had him had affliction where tongue hung out his head side ways and got nicked named tonguedhead was tough as nails but fair and I learned a lot from him though he never liked his pic taken and i was dare by friends so took his pic and he took off down hall chasing me to get my camera, I slid and fell and my camera went flying into the wall, he caught up with me said guess we wont have any photos today but guess you will have two weeks detention hahahah fond filled memories hahhalol...
