Quintessential Shine

Sunlight nourishes the Earth from miles away.

Yet at the same time the moon can never bring

a single shine out from it's own light and not the sun's.

Dead are it's own rays.

And the moon a reflection of the sun

circles in accordance to Earth's orbit

always following direction to gravity

never being to illuminate without its partner.

But can't the moon shine on it's own?

Valuable and strong as it is

we can't live without it...

Although it can't light its own path

it shares a similar glow we all have.

Mysterious as it pales, waxes, and wanes,

the moon always changes.

Glowing yet hurt because of its hidden

deformations it's funny how the man on the moon

can calmly look down and smile.

Never consistent but forever it shines in

it's own personal way.

The moon a bringer of night,

the harvester of a sea of stars, the bearer of water,

and a graceful thing that sows its own beauty,

this is it's shine.
