The Enlightenment Ideology

The Englightenment ideology was a radical idea separating itself from the ideas of the church.  It explained that men did not need property, noble blood, or status to became a citizen of the state.  One's own individual merit can provide for that status.  Rationalism was included in which the harmony and order of nature can be applied to human society.  The significance of the Enlightenment was that it first questioned the ways of the church.  Secondly, it brought about new identities for future generations including women and their relationship with the world.
