Rain

Faces glum ,knitted eyebrows,gloomy minds

Umbrellas open, trousers rolled up

Heavens dripping the elixir of plants

Moisture-laden gusty winds

A lonely face stands out in the street

The raincoat clad traffic policeman

Busy directing traffic through slushy road

He'd love to be in a warm, dry room

The ragpicker and his family

Huddled beneath the plastic sheet

Steaming"khichdi" with fried potato

Slice of heaven dropped in this ghetto

Cheap eatery shack by the roadside

Four friends.. young and bubbling

Sipping scalding tea, nibbling fries

They don't find reason for grumbling

Grandfather and grandson on the rainy day

Clad in full-sleeves ,trousers and socks

Staring wondrously at each other's face

Like serene waves lapping on rocks
