Elegance

Shopping mall named Elegance at the city hub

I saw in an ad on the telly in my humble home

I gathered enough courage and boarded a bus

Bound for Elegance.. the bus was stuffed

People young and old, ladies and children

Conductor asked me "Where'd you like to go ?"

Proudly I said "Elegance, I'm going there to shop"

He scornfully looked at my cheap trousers and tee shirt

Eyed my sandal clad dusty feet ... my cheap watch

My shirt pocket bulged with newspaper cuttings

I was planning for a long time after long long thinkings

Decided to write on a reputed shopping mall

But I'd never visited one ... so I wished to see it all

ake a snapshot and post it on my wall

The security smartman gave me a sharp look

Decently clad doorkeeper pushed aside the glass door

A chill pierced my spine.. my teeth almost chattered

The AC was in full blast.. for me ? I wondered !

I went up to the second floor -- the men's section

Eyed the dreamy suits ...... looked at the price tags

Enviously I patted the pretty branded travel bags

A grey suit I fancied ,light blue shirt, a checkered tie

Pair of silk socks , cream leather belt, a soft wallet

I skied into the footwear section- chose a pair of shoes

Pointed at the toe... I tried them on... I had nothing to lose

Someone fetched me a soft drink, a drinking straw

The store was crowded ... I summed up the cost

All added to fifty grand .. I looked intently at the buyers

They were so excited.............................

I sat on a soft sofa beside a coloured water fountain

The fountain of money.. brighter than sunshine..sweeter than honey

My plastic purse in my back pocket piercing my soul

I had the words for writing... I had almost reached my goal

Walked up to the pay counter stifling a sigh

"I'm sorry I don't have the money,nothing I can buy"

Just an idea.................................. With malice towards none. Buyology is catching on like flu. Needs and wants are merged by flashy ads.

Yes. If Michael Jackson never

Yes. If Michael Jackson never had a dime or wore the best clothes, I would still admire him for some of the music he created. Sales are made to support companies. Who profits? >>>>>>>>>>> stockholders. Some stockholders use the money wisely and for good purpose, some do not.

I am just a peon, but I am very wealthy on the inside, and grateful for it! ;-)

Very nicely done!! ~peace~

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
