Long Long Ago

Long Long Ago

==========

Truth is sometimes so devastating but pleasurable too to delve in memories which should better be forgotten. Friends, you have read the confession of  Austromate about grabbing tarts and marzipans meant for Christmas at an orphanage.Now here is my story.It'd look better in my diary but again who'll read it !! In any case I doubt whether anyone will be interested to read this scrappy piece told from my pining memory.

A child I was it a small decrepit unplanned district town slum in Orissa.Old enough to know what "goodies" meant.On the first of every month my salaried father would go to K.B.Mukherjee & Sons and return with the month's ration of tea,washing soap,bathing soaps and the "goodies" which were about 200 grams of assorted candies,toffees and 400 grams of biscuits and 100 grams of "chanachur".My brother and I would begin attacking the biscuits & candies from the very next morning each competing with the other.They tasted much much better than the "Cadbury Bournvilles" which I can afford off and on now.In a few days the goody ration would hit rock bottom and we had to wait patiently for one whole month for the next treat.

Wondrous Tribute Tale

as diary entry for Austomate. Bern. - To have to wait a whole month for treats had to be rough times for you guys. This telling made me nostalgic - maybe I will develop enough courage to relate some of my "little" adventures, there have been only glimpses so far in my poems. Your story made me happy. Thank you. - I'm jus' sayin' - Lady A
