I wish you could just change the past
Make old feelings go numb
Because I sit inside my heart at night
And I wait for you to come

But some people only want things
That they can never comprehend
And you could only play a lover
Whose love could never transcend

The walls and fears and sorrows
The fact you were too young to care
The knife, the blood, and the emptiness
That held us down in despair

So I wish you could just forget the past
Make old loves and lovers leave
So you could hold onto a future
And go back to being naive
