Don't Give Up

Vintage Words

The last straw is laughing

as the thread snaps

and you fall in again.

Climb out. Reweave

more twigs.

Persistant as bird wings

forever as sky, swing high

and tease clouds. Let

the feathers fall. No

trail is ever lost.

Ends and means warm.

High meets low in the middle.

Come, the invitation is unopened

and autographed with signatures

of courage and encouragement.

Unrelent. Sweat, strain,

then sweat again. There

is no goal, only the trek.

Let drops of water course

the neck. Keep up. Rest

is for death.

Passion is more than fruit,

more than shade and sleep.

Leave the weary to dust.

Push the stalled car aside,

pound a path to the end

of the pavement, then

buy a map.
