Seasons of Life!

Folder:
Life and Choices

Yeah because I would not be the person I am today if not for those trials I endured.  Im' not ashamed of my past just some of the choices I made.    I wrote a poem about that.

Seasons of Life

The Winds of Change have come and gone,

Like Seasons in our Life.

As life goes on..we Live and Learn; and Lose some things at times.

Some precious as a child we've raised, or even Gold so fine.

Like crystal from the hourglass, whose sands run free with time.

We live and learn so many things, so valuable given time.

We look towards our creator, to guide us through at times.

But Life inevitably passes, never knowing where it might lead.

Never looking back on the past. Never really seeing the need.

And sometimes it's not just us, whose Life must take a turn.

Sometimes it is a Loved One..

whose presence becomes missed and yearned.

So choose your paths very wisely,

for these choices you make are your own.

They're there with you for the rest of your Life.

Like a stone cutter cuts in a stone.

Written & Composed By: Denise Hall-Campbell

Proverbs 16.9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

PSALM 24:4 Show me the right path, O Lord, point out the road for me to follow.

Proverbs 16:33 We may throw the dice, but the Lord Determines how they fall.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this at a very difficult time in my life.  The separation from my son, the emotional separation affecting me deeply, inspired this poem and the prose I chose to put those very emotions and deep insights into words.  It is a shame that we can't go back and do a do-over, and know then what we know now.  But then again for everything there is a purpose and reason that we do not understand.  Only God knows what the big picture is, how he works evetually towards our good and future whether we know it or not.  I am thanking him  now and each and everyday that I can have the opportunity to make a better life a better future for my son, for our son Wyatt.  We Love you Baby Boy and have missed you so so much and are so Happy to make a better future for you in any way we can.

The Dream Works

Who ever knew I'll grew into a linguistics magician.
I'd worked hard to get into proper position to commence my lyrical living with poetic sentences.
Making wise decisions to avoid a massive collision.
Fighting my adversaries with my penmanship for I can avoid prison.
No such thing is self defense on this twisted rock we dwelling in.
But I continue moving in with my family and friends like we're journeymen on a hunt for gold.
The gold I seek is not gold just a golden opportunity to accomplish a life long dream I been chasing since I was ten.
After I captured the moment I'm high tailing it back to Carolina.
To tell my mother and grandmother it's time to recline no more 9-to-5.
Just good times of living fine.
No more crying family tears went away like a drought in the desert.
I must to thank you all for properly placing your trust in my work to meet success and I'm halfway in my teenage years with no regrets.
I'm much sure I'll pass that test.
Don't need a cheat sheet I got the ability to overcome any adversity.
Not going to be easy but nothing in life is easy.
I just got to give my all or just fall.

30th poem I just want to continue writing expand my mind

This Is Reality

And when we’re born, we wake.
Thrown into a world filled with lies and mistakes.
We take our first steps setting the road we will take.
We grow up laughing and learning how to love.
Enjoying life for however long God has gave.

We make our way into school,
Making friends, learning our way.
We’re taught to try our best,
our skills always being put to the test.
Told that making money is the key to life’s success.
Always struggling to try and figure out what is best.

I’ve been pushed and pulled,
gone to Hell and back.
Trying to stay on this beaten down path.
I did my best but this isn’t the life that I have made.
I do what I want with my happiness put first.
I’m as carefree as I’ll ever be
because I’m gonna live life exactly how it’s meant to be .

Most of us leave school
all ambitious to reveal what the future has to hold.
I will venture off ready to write my story yet untold.
I will stray from the beaten path,
venture out and accept my past.
I won’t run from fear,
I won’t let money control my happiness at all.

We work hard all our lives;
never truly unleashing the adventurer we have inside.
Always told to be smart and do what’s right;
but what’s “right” isn’t what’s going to make me happy inside.

I’ve been pushed and pulled,
gone to Hell and back.
Trying to stay on this one way path,
I did my best but this isn’t the life that I have made.
I do what I want with my happiness put first.
I’m as carefree as I’ll ever be because I’m gonna live life exactly how it’s meant to be.

I’ll live the life that I want,
won’t follow the majority Ill be my own minority.
Ill run free, not bound to society’s ways.
I’m done listening to the do’s and dont’s that the people make.
You can be who you want,
see what you like,
do as you please,
and as long as you’re happy you will always be free.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I always find that following the 'status quo' is hard to do and that in life maybe it isn't the right thing to do. So, I wrote this to express a very real and very common struggle that I find not only within myself but within lots of people I meet. I find that everyone feels pressured to be, act or live a certain way and that causes them to hide who they really are and the talents that they possess. I hate seeing people feel that they need to act a certain way because that is how society believes we should be. This poem expresses my issues towards the suppresion of individuality that todays social conformity causes.
