LEER OF THE SENSUALIST

And so this piece is titled “Leer of the Sensualist.”   Yeah, I know, but put your dicks back in your pants perverts.  It’s actually a legal reference referring to a District Court decision.  This relates to James Joyce’ novel Ulysses.  It was initially banned in the U.S.  The term “leer of the sensualist” comes from Judge Woolsey’s decision.  He notes that “in spite its unusual frankness nowhere does he detect the leer of the sensualist”  Strong words, indeed, coming from a district judge.  Apparently being a leering sensualist is no longer a disqualifier to being a district judge or Supreme Court judge.

Giggle at bad words

not intending to be porn

seems a final note

So we learn that the American court systems tried to protect the average American from feeling lust or wanting to get down and nasty.  We allow a book because it uses dirty words and dirty images but does not inspire lust.  The end of the decision from Judge Woolsey notes that although the book is somewhat emetic, nowhere does it tend to be aphrodisiac.  So puking is fine.  Getting a hard on is not.  At least we know.  It really shows how backwards a lot of our notions are.  It would seem that lust is a perfectly natural and healthy response to certain situations.  Of course, we need to pretend it isn’t even if the ministers and priests we revere are secretly molesting our children.  Perhaps that is a rant for another day.

Puke up all you want

just keep your dick flaccid

don’t want to stir up

lustful feelings mustn’t rise

desire still viewed a sin
