End of times, fable

It was a warm summer day when it started. Mother Rabbit told her daughter to be careful of the animals of the air, because her friends told her that they were trying to hunt the animals of the land. Little Bunny was confused, and told this to her friend Owl. He was offended, and told this to his friend Sparrow. Soon, since birds can move faster by air, all flying animals knew of the land animals’ accusations.

The Sparrow rushed to the shore, to ask the animals of the water what they thought, but found Deer was already there. He was telling Fish all that his neighbors had told him about the birds’ plan to hunt them all down. “Why do you suddenly think that? We would never do such a thing!” said the Sparrow. “If anyone would like to own the world, it would be you, the land animals! All animals know you’re greedy and vain.”

Fish was a good friend of the Deer, and so he defended him. “If anyone is vain in this land it’s you!” She said to the Sparrow. “You think that you’re so high and mighty only because you can fly! Guess what? Oceans are bigger than skies!” “Oh, is that so?” Asked the sparrow. “Come and see you flying turd maker.”

Other animals passing by heard the discussion and joined in. Sane arguments turned into nonsense, no one heard each other anymore, just their own voices and opinions, and it went on until everyone was yelling angrily. The smaller animals ran to tell the bigger ones about what was going on, and word of the discussion spread like wildfire. Everyone prepared for the inevitable battle against the other animals. Soon, the strongest animals were standing face to face on the shore. And in front of them, in the middle of the soon to be battlefield, there were Shark, Bald Eagle and Bear. Everyone was very afraid of a fight, but fear turned to hatred when they met the other’s eyes, thinking it wasn’t their fault, it was the other’s and they were just defending themselves.

“Here we stand” said  Bear, bellowing above the murmuring crowds “To defend our honor and name as land animals. Any last words?” No one answered. “So be it.”

Needless to say, the war lasted a long time, for wounds turn to fear and fear turns to hatred. Some species didn’t join the fight, but the massacre left them adrift in the sea of chance. The last animal to be seen was a lone, young Owl circling the skies, looking for his land friend.

Just one Rule

There it was all the animals where happy and everything was good. Everyone has a job, each animal had to complete unique tasks in order of everyone can live together. Like the rabbits, they deliver each morning the news paper to everyone. The monkeys, they cook for everyone in their restaurant. The bears, they are in charge of the hospital, they take cares of the babies, when the babies grow up, they help their parents on their tasks. Everything was awesome, fishes, giraffes, elephants, gorillas, coyotes, turtles, everyone were friends, and everyone helped each other, but there was just one rule, one rule only, one rule that can never be violated, If some animal does not work on what he is supposed to work, everything will be a chaos. One day, after the rabbits delivered the news paper, after de monkeys cook for every animal in the jungle, after the elephants clean all the animals, after the tigers harvest all the food, after the fishes clean the river, a baby was born, a little sheep. The sheep are in charge of making clothes, because no animal can be naked at the jungle. When the baby sheep grow up, he start making clothes like the other sheep in the jungle, but he was different, he did not like to make clothes, he was a lazy sheep, he did not wanted to work, every time he worked, he always make awful clothes. The parents of this sheep tried every day to make him understand that he was born to make beautiful cloth for everyone on earth. He was so tired of the other sheep, tired of doing what everyone else expected him to do, so he left home. He started walking without having a particular destination. Night and day passed, he was feeling tired and he started to listen to his own breath and how depressing it was to know that he was by himself looking for something that not even him knew what it was. Then, out of nowhere he heard something… “pst”. The sheep didn´t know if he should stop or not, but he was so tired that stopping seemed like a good idea. Even having the sun rising up and lighting directly into his eyes he saw from far away something green. “Who are you?” the sheep asked. “I´m a frog, can´t you see?” Later on the sheep found out that the frog was there for the same exact reasons, he didn’t like what the frogs did, even when they were supposed to be meant for it. While they were chatting water started to fill the floor, it started to cover their feet. They looked into each other´s eyes and did what they loved to do; they created a shelter with wood. Even when the other frogs and sheep didn’t know how to work with wood, they did. They saved all of the other animals by creating wood shelters. All of the animals were saved by two animals that did something they were not supposed to know how to do; they were saved from animals that actually did what they loved to do.

Lion Kingdom

Once upon a time in a far away kingdom, there were the family of lions, tigers, zebras, giraffes, and many more animals. One day the family of lions received a letter that the world would come to an end. This letter said:

            My dearest friends,

I have some good news and bad news. The bad news is that the world will come to an end. But the good news is that you have five days left to plan your salvation, this means to collect food, announced the whole kingdom, take care of the little ones, and to offer a good bye banquet to the kingdom the night before Africa collides, else something worst was going to happen.

Best of luck may the odds be ever in your favor.

The day after the letter, the lion king decided to tell the whole lion family what had happened the day before, but insisted to keep it in a secret and to not tell anyone but the family of lions. The lion king was a selfish animal and thought that this disaster was actually a good thing since after this disaster they were going to have the whole kingdom for themselves. The second day the lionesses were collecting food, but noticed that they only ate zebras, so they decided to tell this to the lion king, the lion king decided to also tell the zebras about the disaster, so that they could have food for themselves. The third day was a disaster, there was a huge earthquake, then a thunderstorm and tornado, and to finish this day the Kilimanjaro erupted. The tigers, and giraffes were curious about what was happening since it was supposed to be a sunny season, so they started question themselves. The fourth day the baby lion told his father that in school he had learned about a man named Noe, who saved the world by building an arc and placing every single animal in it. The lion king thought it was a good idea and decided to build an arc to save his family. Later that day the lions received their guests, from tigers to giraffes, jaguars and hippos, they started to enjoy a wonderful banquet. They were all one big happy family. After everything was done, and the guests had left but the zebras, the lion king told them that the arc was going to set sail at 8 a.m. the next day. The fifth day had come, the zebras and lions were on the arc, when the leader of the zebras decided to ask the lion king why were they the only animals invited he replied, “because you are our only food”, the zebra king replied, “But what are we going to eat then?” the lion king didn’t think about this and they were half way in the middle of the sea. The zebras were undernourished so the lions slowly started to starve, so it came to point in which they had no food. And they DIED.

Moral:

Don’t think only about yourself, think also about others and you’ll be all right.
