It was a quiet night of May 1983. I was in one of those moods where poetic flights are experienced by the soul. There was a power failure and everything was wrapped in black...save the room where I had lit a candle. Almost, at once, inspiration took over my faculties and this poem was the result. All praise to God Almighty.
Denise Levertov is a well known poet of the English language. One of his poems is among the 100 best selected by the International Library of Poetry, Maryland, USA. Here, while appreciating Levertov's thoughts, I have endeavoured to present a philosophy of my own.
These lines came as an inspiration as I was quietly pondering on Shakespeare's description of life in plays like Hamlet, Macbeth, King Lear, Troilus and Cressida, Cymbeline, Julius Caesar, Othello, As You Like It etc. etc etc
