The Reason for Hope

I am your shining light

Guiding you through the darkness

I make your world turn bright

Giving you hope when you’re heartless

Whenever you are facing the roaring seas

I will be with you, holding you tight

Even if you are shivering from a gentle breeze

I will cover you with my warmth, always ready to ignite

There will be times when you will climb over large hills

You will feel pain like those who have entered no man’s land

You may slip and scream with shrill

But I will be at the top, waiting with a helping hand

I will never harm you in anyway

You are the reason behind my choices

That is why you are never alone, you will never stray

Whenever you are scared, I will calm you with gentle voices

I come in many forms

My description ranges from person to person

My characteristics are enough to calm any storm

I bring peace and assurance, but I will never worsen

So remember that I am there when you are blue

I am there when you cry for a plea

Whatever I mean to you

Just remember that you mean the world to me

The End of a Poem

I sit upon my comfy chair
To type away my time
A press placed here, another there
Form sentences sublime
My fingers start to ache and creak
Yet still I try to find
The perfect words to add to it
A poem by the mind

I have words
But nothing’s working
They turn the rhymes to shambles
I try hard
And nothing’s changing
This thing just seems to ramble

This is a burden I shan’t bear
The poem is not worthy
I’ve typed so long the keys show wear
Although it makes me surly
Perhaps I’ll try another week
By then it should work, surely
Until then I think it fit
To end this poem early

Author's Notes/Comments:

One of the few poems I've ever written, I didn't really stick to any style, I just made the first "stanza" (I think that's the correct name) and tried to go along with it, except for the middle which I put to purposefully disrupt the flow to better emphasis the little "story" of the poem. Took forever to do, constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Spenserian Sonnet

Far surpassing the beauty of the sea,
More soothing than the rhythm of its sighs,
Depths deeper than those of any that be,
What secrets lie in your alluring eyes.
What power there in your deep bass voice lies,
Like great, rolling thunder on a calm night
That it seems to control the very skies
While no other tone could achieve that right.
To be in your presence, heart and mind fight
For your engaging wit denotes such fire
As can only excite and mould things bright,
An intelligence of which I can't tire.
Love, it is you that my heart draws me to
and now, there could be no me without you.
