A Heart Fused In Stone

Folder:
My Love

I love you was how it started
You had me at hello
I wish I had seen the truth
How was I supposed to know?

That soon enough you’d cut me off
And leave me on my own
A broken soul acid love
A heart fused in stone

You told me you weren’t ready
That you needed to find a reason
Your mind, your heart, a confusing life
That changed with every season

Then one day you smiled at me
My heart for a split second beat
You spoke in that boyish shy voice
Something to tell me in defeat
To think I thought you wanted me back
After only such a short time
You had found a heart to love
But that heart wasn’t mine

The sky had screamed my fingers split
White noise numbed my ears
Paralyzed limbs with serpents climbing
Such pain, such hurt, such fears

Conditioned I smile I laugh with you
I joke and I then leave
Behind closed doors I scream
But only Silently to deceive

You leave your reminder notes
But you burn all emotional ties
Scolding the wrists you once kissed
Scarring comforting lies

To make everyone happy is a curse
I make my bed and I lie in it alone
A broken soul, acid love
A heart fused in stone
