Goodnight sunlight

How I’ll miss you on the dark side of my eyes

In the streets of glistening starlight

I can only imagine how you must miss seeing your friends

The tiny acquaintances you once fit in so well with



I can run with the best of them

But, I can’t run away from you

No, I can’t run away from you tonight



Honesty’s the hardest part

But, for once, can’t we just speak from our hearts

Without tearing each other apart

Because, I have a dream of knowing what forgiveness feels like

And, I refuse to believe, I’m the only one with that dream

If only faith were enough

If it only took that much

Then, forgiveness wouldn’t mean what it does

And, it wouldn’t be so tough to find

But, that’s exactly why it’s so hard to come by



And, I believe that someday

We will know that forgiveness is the root of the heart of love

And, we will know that love is faith unwilling to give up

And, we will know what it means to believe



And, I can run with the best of them
