You know I've lived my life one day at a time

But today I'm ready to look past tomorrow

Cause today's not long enough anymore

Cause yesterday was today, just a day before

And I'm ready to live for more than just now



It's strange what a single day can bring

A precious lesson can change your every way

But a lesson is nothing without a test

But the lesson was the test, I'm waiting on the rest

And I'm ready to learn what my tongue will say



A childs eyes are taught to see what they shouldn't

The innocents' sight turns the innocent blind

And the sight of forgiveness is a penny in the pond

And the sight of many is thrown away, tossed away and gone

And I'm ready to see again what I lost inside



Although today is what I'm living in constantly

The life I want to live is still years away

While my life has been lived I'm living yet

While my life is changing, the past has slept

And I'm ready to live my live outside of today



The past is from where I learn how to love in the future

The love that I've left I know I haven't lost

If only love were the only thing I ever needed

If only love would come, and you know I've pleaded

And I'm ready to love you and you can bet any cost



You know I've lived my life one day at a time

But today I'm looking toward tomorrow
