The Art of Self Destruction

Why won't you punish me for my selfish mistakes

You promised you would judge every action I take

Where were you when I drank from the river of sin

And let the devil baptise me as I dived right in

I chewed up your body and drank your blood

I banked your forgiveness and rejected your love

With you in my stomach I walked away

Remembering my path knowing I'd need you some day

I question my faith with every blessing I receive

I move further away the more I believe

Faith rises at dawn with you at my core

Sunday's sun wanes and I've fallen once more

Well here I return with a list to confess

A sure fire way to clean up this mess

But it is easy to sit here and worship your name

I rejected you before and I will do it again

Wow, so many ways to ready

Wow, so many ways to ready the analogies and metaphors  in the poem

as a saviour represented in a ritual akin to occult rituals juxtaposed. Powerful and jolting the acts of communion have such paradoxes the devouring of innocent flesh symbolic - I am now set on a course of thought whizzing around the universe back to the Beginning the I am and the first fall. The anti is the word of origin meaning instead of. So rich and gruesome you make salvation seem abhorrent. I am passed this point to date, but always plenty of opportunity to slip back there. I love the title too. Excellent write because of the reaction it gave not the theme and this is a sign of a good intellectual spiritual and emotional piece. Blessings SS

Thank you for your reply, I

Thank you for your reply, I think the idea of salvation is abhorrent to the 'inner sinner'. He definitely helped me write this one.

My father turned her grey

they loved me like a sky lantern

they watched me fly away

Devil Worship?

Embracing evil. Horrors! Like atheist on tv commercial trying to keep religion out of government. Kinda sad actuall. Succuming instead of struggling to be better, good, just ethical or moral. Too many rules. anti- as a preamble to anything is easy. Pro- means work and sweat and conquering doubt. God and I spat all the time. I usually lose though. :(
