Battle The Beast

Earlier works

We'll win the wars we wage with pride

And purposely pretend they've died,

But I know wars are never won,

Until the wars within are done.

If we could only look and see,

The mess that's made by you and me,

When we decide to hate the friend,

Who would remain until the end;

Then maybe we would all be free,

From all the things that make us be,

The beast that hides behind us all,

And dwells beyond our inner wall.

The bitter brawl begins with beast,

Then turns to face the middle east.

But why must middle easterns be,

The next in line respectively?

The beast is not the only one,

Who likes to mess with us for fun.

His friends will shred us just the same;

But they are not the ones to blame,

For we're the ones that make us die,

And when I look at us I cry,

Because we think that we are done

with a war that's just begun.

Author's Notes/Comments:

ah....math class....this poem is sorta crappy because I wrote it in math class and it's sorta a rhyming rant which never works out right.  Rants shouldn't rhyme.

Who cares if it's a rant that rhymes! It still has so much to say and you say it well. I like it a lot. It says everything I'm thinking about this whole situation, very nicely done. I really enjoy your poetry and I'm glad you seem to enjoy mine. Thanks for all my comments too!

That is the nature of humans it seems. One horrible act after another in their goals to feel supreme and above all others. You see it in the school yard with 'I wear ___ jeans' to 'You're going to hell because you're _____ and I'm _____!' (fill in religeons of choice). On all levels it's there. Don't think it ever will till the race or this planet is no more.

Very nice poem. Shows rage, confusion and sorrow. Very nicely done!
