For you, I tried to better myself,

For you, I tried to change,

For you, I turned myself into someone new and strange.

I never thought someone like you

Could ever love a girl like me,

So I changed myself into someone

I thought you would want me to be.

I realize now it was crazy

To put on an act that way,

But now, you see, it's much too late,

For you have run away.
