Nature's Cry

Ugonna Wachuku

Weep with me because our enchanting oceans

and seas are polluted. Weep with me because

there is nuclear danger dumped in the icy
north. Let us weep because climate change

is upon our enchanting earthly home.

Weep with me because fishes are
dying. Dolphins are singing no
more. Weep with me because oil
is choking earth's oceans to
death.

Weep with me because our trees
are dying. Human hands defile
them. Weep with me because our
farmlands can no longer be
pregnant with seeds: Famine,
barenness and starvation
menacingly storm through
the earth in broad day
light!

Weep with me because I went to the
Niger Delta and the earth was dead.
Ogoniland has been stripped of her
fruitful environment and natural
wealth. Weep with me because I

wentto Odi and Odi village was

dead.

Deeply weep with me because I went
to France and saw the sea spitting
oil. Weep with me because oil tankers
now break into two at sea. And now,
this Prestige, off the Spanish coast
has fatally wounded earth's oceans
with oil spills and leaks once more:

I am so deeply hurt, and keep asking:
Why wasn't that oil pumped off the
Prestige into a healthy tanker all
those days it sat there waiting to
break and sink??????????
???????????????
???????????????
??????????????:

Countries talk dumb and hopelessly
dumb letting their numbness to truth
and urgent reality reveal heaven's
weeping heart for dying humanity
and our bleeding earthly home.
And now Spanish government
apology. What use is this
apology now? What use???:

And the USA Gulf of Mexico

one with BP: and more:

Weep with me because I am dead.
Weep with me because you are dead.
Weep with me because our beautiful,
chanting birds are dying. Weep with
me because our bountifully and
wonderfully created earth is
singing a glarring dirge.

Weep with me because Igboland

is weeping for her own and
all humankind. The land
of the free and the home
of the brave is also
weeping. All earth is
weeping indeed.

Weep with me because I am Mother
Nature and I am weeping for earth
and every uncaring human being.
My brilliant blue earth is fast
dying. Dolphins are singing no
more. I am so scared. So, weep
with me. Let us meet at Mt.
Olives. Let us plant the earth
anew under heaven's loving eyes
of compassion.

Come, humanity, let us save
our dying earth this new day.
Yet weep with me because I am
Mother Nature - I am heaven's
soul - and I am weeping for
earth and all humanity! I am

weeping for our dying oceans!

I am nature. And I am crying!

Our climate is changing and

global warming is threatening

us.

I am nature!

I am earth!

And

I'm weeping!

What use is it to weep tears? They are as fruitfless as the apologies that came too late!
Your poem is superb...through it's message of hopeless tears, the reader will be, instead, angered enough to change humanity's course toward self destruction.
Very inspirational. Thank you for using your astouding ability for rhetoric.

How I wish that our homeplace could be saved for tomorow.

Hello Ugonna! I finally accessed my other email and thus have found you have a new poem posted. Been really busy here in my part of the planet. :) A powerful poem by the way, as always. Truly moving in its urgent wish to do something to our ailing mother earth. Hope you are well. God bless...

Ugonna,
We must all heed the cries of our Mother to be purged from these atrocities. Is there a solution to this pollution? I think the answer lies in the mind of the collective consciousness. We have to join together and find these answers. I believe it is within our power.

I weep with you, but then we must dry our tears and work toward healing our beloved Earth.

Oh yes...your poem, the poignancy resonated with me on a deep level. It was well written as are all your works.

Your friend,
Mary Charest

Hi Ugonna,

I can see that silence on your part does not mean unproductivity.
You have convey in this poem the pains inflicted on our planet,
created to be dominated by superior beings (a little lower than angels),
made in the image and having the attributes of God.
The cause is clearly stated in your ode:
"Countries talk dumb,
letting their numbness to truth and
urgent reality reveal heaven's weeping
heart for dying humanity and his
bleeding earthly home".

Where there is truth, there is also love. And Love is
from God who is eternal.

Well about time Ugonna! Finally a poem that is reality driven. This maybe one of your best yet. Congratulations!
I am going to sent this to my friend Gogue, a political cartoonist from Spain. Please visit my website www.geocities.com/allardagency/ and see his political message stressing the oil disaster that hit the coast of Spain.
We are lucky so far in Canada but unless 'poets' speak out like you have here we are doomed to see such disasters continue. Accidents will always happen but we must be prepared no matter what.

all the best this season,

Smilesz, hi there my good friend ~!
Good to see you and your poetry again.
I apologise for my absence, have been so busy here.

Tis a very emotive poem...deeply laced with the woes of our nature, and the very existence of your Earth.
U penned it very skilfully with the voice of a yearning and lamenting soul.
Nature's cry, indeed.

Do reply to me via email.~
Smilesz, take care in the meanwhile. ~!

My Dear Man,
The world needs to morn and weep for the life we alone "humanity" have let or caused to die. Perhaps the conscious soul of man and women kind can become awakened by these cries.
By the words you share, let one person spread to next this message and make the changes we need to save and preserve the precious and most delicate life in nature we have left. Bless your open eyes and driven spirit. Bless your ancient soul and loving heart.
Bless your mind and ability to speak so powerfully though poetry. Bless all that is you.

With Love and Respect,
Patricia Hermes

Ugonna,

This poem carries such an important message. My hope is that all humankind sees these things happening and takes steps to correct this corruption. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on these crucial problems in the world today.

Dear Ugonna,

This poem is beautifully written with a powerful message that is both urgent and pertinent in these times of industrial expansion and neglect. Your voice takes on the role of our planet, gives her spirit a reflective tone of beauty and desperation that will hopefully be heard by more and more people. I love the choice of words and expressive emotions in this poem, it deeply reaches out to the reader and resonates within the heart. Thank you for this message and for bringing your keen knowledge and perception to this crucial theme and timely poem.

take care
Best regards,
Wendy/Gwendrina

I do weep with you as should all of mankind.

We, as humans, are fast destroying the very world in which we live. What a shame.

The world so freely given to us by the Lord. We not only kill each other for unfounded reason ~ We also destroy the air we breath and the land from which we can feed our families.

Our beautiful world. Mother Nature has good reason to cry!

Thank you Ugonna for making her plight so clear.

I am sorry that it has taken me so long to get here. As ever I have found great wisdom in your wise words.

a powerful poem that makes us sit up and think! a powerful poem that makes us open our eyes! but most of all, the power of this poem is it teaches us "to do" something about the sad situation our world is in today.

Thank you Ugonna for sharing this with us. as beautiful as ever of your writings :)

Ugonna Poet

The Earth applauds your lines. The people see only gain and advancement of self and what is theirs, over usuage of resources, reckless discarding once used with no sense of future impact. Less sentiment than warning, less poetry than soap box. And a good soap box to stand upon. - Just bein' Stella
