He lent us a Son, at Christmas.

"It is  Time", God said; "The Fullness has come, now."

And all Heaven paused for the very briefest moment.

Time skipped a beat, all of Its heart paused, somehow,

for all Heaven (especially Time) knew what He meant.

"All Nature Sings And 'round Us Rings"  God's mercies;

"..angels bending...to touch their harps of gold..." on US!!

"So God Imparts To Humans' Hearts..." His gifts and glories!!

"Midnight Clear" is no impossibility to a God like THIS!!

He knew---THEY/HE knew---what would happen, yet The Son came.

So much joy He would cause; so much pain He would heal.

Yet he condescended, and the Promise He brought:  God's own.

The ache of sending His only Son, a pang all beings can feel.

All Mankind asks, a solitary, million-billioned-voiced plea :

"Wilt Thou Thine Only  One  lend  to  me?  For I am the needy!!

And God cannot deny the pleading, "The Lamb was slain for me!"

From the Foundation, all tears were paid for, atoned already!

The Ever-living consented to Death; by Him all sin was killed,

aches ameliorated, wounds healed, offenses forgiven, by Love.

Mankind could never have dreamed such a beauty, God-willed.

Earth's evidence shows man tried, raising rocks, trees above.

But "gods" and "godlettes" fail and fall upon their subjects.

Yet mans' consciences lead them to pursue truth and goodness.

"There is a way that seemeth right...", but God's Love objects.

His Truest Love sent Himself, as Man to live and die blameless.

He loved all; many loved Him.  Some hated Him; they killed Him.

The Treasure of all treasures His life was, and purely lived.

Neither weapons nor kingdoms formed against Him can ever win.

As subtle as God is, Himself, Love wages a war, hate-deprived.

When He died, an Innocent Sacrifice, it was as God planned.

Then He did not TAKE  Him  back, but  accepted  Him  again;

He took back to Himself the Gift we murdered, did not want.

Willingly He died, even while knowing we would  reject Him.

The mystery is ours; God knows all, even Time from both ends.

And the wonder is that He loved US, each as His only child.

And He sent His message in form of Love, as every lover sends.

How could He hate our sin so, yet send us a Saviour so mild?

Oh Wondrous Love of God, Oh Joys of heart beyond Sympathy!

That He would know our needs, and touch and bless us!

His Gift, given magnificently!  His Love, shown ineffably!

His Tenderest of hearts....He Lent Us A Son.  It's Christmas.
