SOLILOQUY

         "BEFORE SIN COULD BLIGHT, OR SORROW FADE,

          GOD CAME WITH HEAVENLY CARE ;

          THE FORMING BUD TO HIS GARDEN CONVEYED,

          TO LET IT BLOSSOM THERE."

                                 ~(S. T. COLERIDGE)~

There is a certain softness that comes into the eyes

when we consider the effect of death upon those we love.

What had been a casual glance turns into a calming gaze

as Eternity shows in all its Beauty, and hearts turn Above.

We sense everlasting Love in that soft and silent sorrow.

The leaping pangs in our own hearts are but recognitions

of unending heart-friendship; Devotion's undying glow,

as we find our own inner thoughts in the hearts of our friends.

When we lose all hope of joy, sorrowing to see joy depart,

days fill with sad mystery; emptiness replaces dreams.

A dark, darker day brings lasting shadows to the heart;

Beauty has all run out; Life stands, in Death's dark streams.

Yet, there is a sweetness in this bitterest of Loves' tears;

accepting this as God's Will is one of Life's true Sacraments.

Yes, there is sadness on this human-side of the grave's fears;

But, Oh! ineffable gladness: Death-less treasures are Heaven's!

There GOD is; HE, the Light, Who ever loves, and says:

"Suffer such as these little ones to come to Me!",

there with Him, where Summers never end, never cease,

He knows we'll mourn through our cold Winters, yet to be.

His little ones there now are forever blessed and joyous,

serving and worshipping Him with endless Spring songs.

While a light in our hearts has gone out, leaving emptiness,

yet, in mourning and sorrow, we know we do not cry alone.

Every aching heart who's lost a beloved little one

has gained an Eternal-child, an Immortal Joy of the heart.

Words are useless to soothe : will Peace never come?

Love and Time are God's consolers.  Let deepest prayer start.

To Him, endless-seeming time and grief coursing in our souls

are but a blink in His Mind; His Compassion is SO overwhelming!

Our flowing tears He catches drop-by-drop, and His Bottle holds

every sadness and joy, in Heaven, in His Love ever-comforting.

We loved you, and love you now, and will love you all the more.

Your special love became grief.  Past sorrow now, we miss you.

Grief makes us more able to understand Love than before.

Our soul-choice is but obedience; our acceptance is a virtue.

Impervious to pain, the sweet memory of our child lies here.

Unreachable by sorrow or threat, surrounded by our love.

Fair maiden, daughter, who would have been Lover and Mother,

Oh! wait for us beyond these tears, in Heaven there above.

(alt. for line 3)

Fair lad, so gentle, who would have been Lover and Father,

We'll see you again, touch you, tell you how we care.

We'll share with you again the beauty your life gave to Love.

We long so to come to you, and to enjoy the Glories there.

Oh, we'll come to you, in Heaven, where you wait, above.

We'll recognize you sweet, smiling face---Oh!, the thrill!

The thrill of reunion when we hold again your hands!

Your soft, strong, gentle fingers, fragile, fresh still;

kisses of impossibly soft lips, more lovely than we understand!

You'll have been transformed; you'll be of eternal childhood.

Although we may live decades before our way leads to you,

your skin, flesh and bones will be New in God's Perfect Good,

running to us on angel's feet, to hold us! And laughter, too!

We'll know you, that first and endless day, when we meet again!

Your unspeakbly soft voice was silent, leaving with no cry.

We'll hear it AGAIN That Day!; we'll know your words then;

words you'll have been rehearsing for us there, in Eternity.

[[  in progress:

In Joy!, and on Angel's-feet you will run to us!

---laughter winning the race before you---

your voice like a fragrance to our ears,

Heaven's rose-buds, Heaven's Spring.

Sounds sweeter than any earth's birds

richer than any man's hue,

as angel-voices, words so full,

only Heaven could've done such teaching!  in progress]]

You know no sense of the loss Fate caused us yesterday;

know nothing of lost Tomorrows, and forever-sad memories.

You are with Eternal Light, Eternal Knowledge, and cannot sigh.

Yet we sigh, we cry----but not for you----it is for ourselves.

Your soft, sweet eyes they've buried now; we barely saw them.

We'll never see them again until we know them when we see you

where you've gone to: in that Land where all Joys have come.

Child, wait for us there! In Happiness is past what we know!

We'll recognize your sweet, smiling face!  Oh, the thrill then!

Once, your unspeakably soft voice was silent.  We heard no cry

We'll  KNOW  you, that first-and-endless Day as we meet again!

We'll not hear you 'til that Day.  We'll know your words, then.

words you've been rehearsing for us there, in Eternity.

You'll run to us in Joy---laughter winning the race before you.

"A Fragrance In Our Ears", Heaven's rose-buds, Heaven's Spring.

Sounds as sweet as Earth's-birds, richer than any man's-hue.

ANGEL-VOICES!!  So full! Taught in Heaven, making Heaven ring!

We'll have forever, sharing the Love we did not get to know.

To practice Love-lessons we had in store...we had in store..Oh!

Our minds won't know contentment until we talk again with you;

but you went away, for Heaven's reasons.  You went before...Oh!

......too soon, too soon, too soon, too soon, sweet child,

you burst your fragile cage of life, soaring away, away, away,

leaving us behind, and lonely, so lonely----dreams unfulfilled.

But one day we'll never be alone again!  Oh!, such a sweet day!

Now angels keep you: they rejoice!  You are where you belong!

Prayers and angels'tears guard us now, alone, so alone, until

we come to you. Until then our hearts are your memory's home.

This world is sweeter because of what you left us, still.

One day we shall soar away on Morning's Golden Wings

like you did.  We shall rise to Heaven beside you to ever sit.

And you'll be OURS again, you'll FOREVER be ours again!

You'll be ours again, forever, FOREVER!, child sweet.

" HOW WE LOVE YOU,  NO-ONE KNOWS!"

And I am to be the one to comment first on this beautiful tribute and comforting thoughts? You need to let more people know you are here Teddy. This work would be of so much comfort for one that was mourning the loss of a child or loved one. The thought of Angels welcoming this lad or lassie was one of the more comforting of thoughts stated here. I like the way you made it possible to insert the gender into the work. It makes it so personal for the reader. Thank you for directing me here. It was uplifting, inspireing and oh, so very true. ~Lesa~
