Pounding

When I rest my head upon

your chest, I hear your heart pounding.



Astounding, how safe I feel here

wrapped in your warm caress.



I rest, in the very essence of you

in the calm of the afternoon.



Soon, the world will call us out

of this warm cocoon, hounding.



It's an envious world.

Hi, Geneva. I noticed you used this rhyme scheme before, in another of your poems. I really like it, the continuity and bridging it provides. You have captured the true meaning of refuge in the arms of a loved one, tranquillity in sanctuary. The peace, calm, and sense of belonging and completeness are palpable. And you do it so elegantly and effortlessly. Ken
