Ganda

I loved a man who limped when he was tired,

ravaged from polio as a child.

I loved a man whose soul was quiet,

but whose spirit was wild.

I loved a man who found goodness in everyone,

even those without style.

I loved a man whose values were transparent,

that man ~~ owned my feminine wiles.

I loved a man who had a wife,

I knew it then, I know it now.

Haven't found a man like that in a while.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This man and I were totally intimate, but never physically.

Intimacy?

Geneva,

I'm back, reading this poem again after several years.
Back then, I thought two people could be intimate solely on a spiritual level. But now I feel that, in my experience anyway, the more two folks of opposite sexual orientation dig each other, even striving to be just friends, sooner or later more urgent desires merge. I won't elaborate ... but we survived at some cost and pain.

I like this one, makes me think and ask.

I never slept with this one, Ken...and then he suddenly died. I was the last to see him alive, and I can still see him walking out the door, with snowflakes falling softly on his hair...I never slept with this one, but I wish I had...*bittersweet*

Geneva,

I enjoyed the poem, but I found your closing comment more intriguing. Some would question whether you could be "totally intimate, but never physically." Fodder for future lyrical exploration for sure.

I agree, it's always nice to find a soul you can relate to intimately without having to know physically. Your point is well taken, Geneva.

Ken

Ps., there's always mind-f***ing, don't forget that!!!

It takes courage to expose yourself to the world this way, even though we don't know you personaly. I long to find the woman who will care deeply enough for me to harbor feelings such as these. I hope he knows what a lucky man he is.

Thanks for your sweet comments on this poem. I did love this man, but unfortunately, this man died...it was a cold night in January, and I was the last to see him alive...so I appreciate your comments even more...
