Days of Yore

Back to the days of yore

Back to the times when I lived more

When flowers bloomed in spring

And summer vacations were filled with carefree joy

There were little worries and little fear

Of the big, bad monsters of the dark

Or the drudgery of having to wake up

Or as early as a lark

I could endlessly dream about my future

That would seem to be filled with promise and joy

With me, no one could treat me like a toy

Because of my strong willed nature

Loneliness and rejection were not among my fears

Thus I shed few real tears

School was easy, work was play

Life was bright as a sunny day

Oh, that I could relive the days of yore!

The times when I lived more

when the future I did not dread

When the good days would not end

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this when things were not going too well for me, and I was reminiscing on my childhood.

I so loved this piece... Like you, this poem took me back to younger days when care free was the way and life was full of wonderment. I'm glad I read this now however, I just returned from the las vegas renfair and I was part of the event... IT was amazing! this piece could be a reminder of those days gone by. Well done dear poet!!!
