In the night sky,

filled with clouds.

One lone star shines through,

a glimmer of hope.



In an evening of darkness,

this simple star,

fills my heart with emotion,

and forces me to grin.



I longingly stare,

at this twinkle of perfection.

My eyes readjusting,

to keep its beauty in focus.



And I wish, "Oh starlight, star bright,

the only star I see tonight."

I closed my eyes,

and let my heart speak for me.



"Bring me my unreachable dream,

give me a ladder to my highest peak!

Make my impossibles possible,

and fill my empty heart."



I lifted my eyes, a tear fell slow but sure,

as I stared at my only hope.

"I wish I may, I wish I might,

to have this wish, I wish tonight."
