Forget-Me-Nots

close my eyes

breathe in deep

hear the cries

start to weep

remembering things like yesterday

I guess those times are far away

stuck in my room

reading the letters

repeating thought:

will we get better?

does it matter

will i look into your eyes

and see a smile behind them

will you laugh

will i cry

can the past be forgotten

or are we empty

someone tell me

does it really matter

ghost dreams tell me the happy lie

wanting to believe they're true

but it hurts to try

will we get back

to a good place inside

conversing through verses

doesn't matter

can we keep all the promises

will we always be empty

will you're ghost dreams tell me

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is about being in a relationship which has turned sour but which you also want to fix.  A little explination, the line "conversing through verses" is an actual reference.  At the time, my boyfriend would write about how he felt and in turn I would do the same.  At first it was therapy for us to understand our emotions which we have a hard time talking about, but in the end, it was the only way for us to even communicate.
