THE BEACON

It was a beacon in the storm tossed dark

for those who went by sea

the light shown bright through darkest night

and it shown best for me

I was like a ship who'd lost it's way

and could not find the shore

strong winds kept blowing me off course

far from the beacons door

My deck was old and warn with age

my flag was limp and torn

and sorrow stalked me all my days

it seems since I was born

But some where off the rugged shore,

I heard a whistle blow

and I knew that I'd been saved

it led me to a harbor safe

through endless gentle waves

I climbed off the deck and onto  dry land

and bade my crew farewell

for a golden light had guided me

and I was saved from hell

Now Jesus is my guiding light

he leads me each new day

for He died upon a horrid cross

and through this, he paved the way

No more am I widly tossed about

like a ship whose gone off course

for it is Him who loves me so

he is my only source

Just give your hand to Him

the one who loves you best

and you'll find solace in the night

so board the ship with God's own crew

and sail away to light
