Declivity

We exist

In the world of

Normalcy

I say exist

For normal is not

Really alive

We strive for

The mere ordinary

And many fall short

Beg, steal, borrow

Why not earn?

That road is barred

By others who

Take the quicker way

Lack of morals?

Or lack of meaning?

Doesn't much matter

There is no greatness left in the world

Adventures are over

Everywhere has been explored

And now you can too,

For a price

We will get

To space

And make a business

Out of it, too

Heroism just a word

No great wars to fight

We're scared to do it

Properly

Great romance called dead

Even by romantics

Who claim that it is not

But know better

Those on top

Cheat

Those not

Can do nothing

Normalcy, to complacency

There will be no revolution

And it wouldn't be televised

Just maybe the bloodshed

For ratings purposes

Our zenith now past

The heart is no longer a mediator

Petty schemes

End hopeful dreams

And who knows how long

Until we ruminate

On our own ruination.
