A Very 'Lyrical' Poem

Sam I Am,

For I try and I try and I try but I just can't

Seem to get it just right

The time drags just wrong

I've just seen a face

But that's all I've seen

'Te Amo' on repeat

How could I hide my love away?

I tower in at two feet

But since you're gone

I can't go on

I never have a nickname with you

I don't need one, do I?

Nicknames are for lovers who

Need to hide

Even a bit

There's no point in hiding

I can't find you anyway

Except in every song

And every brief smile

And every cascading tear

You're oh so sweet

To smile so kindly

Regrettably twisting that knife you don't know you hold

And then mend the wound

Only to do it all again

Half-happy, whole-hearted lonliness

What good is a tall stone wall that's full of holes?

Or a mirror that isn't you?

"I could see into your window

Even though you're far away"

Oh god

Stop the car

Turn it around

Right Now!

If it were that easy

It might not be worth it

Every mile down the road is a mile I'd give my soul

To not have to travel

And it's worth my heart

To keep going

I say I'd do anything for you

The ante's on the table

And I've got the hand to call it

"When I'm getting home tonight

I'm gonna hold her tight

I'm gonna love her till the cows come home"

Missing you is as real as I can feel

Until you're making me real again

"It hurts so bad mama

Am I gonna die?"

It's playin at the Roxy

A man who's sad and lonely

I don't need to rehearse

All I gotta do is act naturally

You're the doll I do it for

Norma's got nothing on you

My schedule is all away games

That you can't come see

Oh Michelle

Ma belle.
