Addiction

Waxy white withered face

Bruised blue beneath your eye

You really have to stop this now

Or you’re really going to die

You come down hard from euphoria

Every single time

So why put yourself through it

Pretending that you’re fine

I’ve seen the way you get

When you haven’t had your ‘fix’

You fall down to your knees crying

Down like a tonne of bricks

Your hair hangs all tangled

Greasy and smelling weird

You’ve changed so much its unreal

The old you’s disappeared

You lay dormant for days

Don’t hear from you at all

You don’t bother answering your door

Or answer any of my calls

I know that you’re in

Because sometimes I can see you

You’ve become so anti-social

You haven’t a clue

Please just stop doing it

Your life is seriously in danger

An addiction like that

Can make you a stranger.

It can wreck your life

Unless you over-come it

You’ve got to stay strong

Swallow your pride and quit.

thanks for the share

I enjoyed reading that
I had a friend who was addicted to some pretty heavy drugs once, she managed to quit but it did cost her a lot and made a good mess of her life.
the first four lines were my fav bit, I think they could almost be a poem on their own. they really sum up an addiction.

the only thing I would change maybe is this line "You don’t bother answering your door" is kind of long, and it throws off the flow. maybe "You don't come to your door" or something slightly shorter would even it out.

Much Love
