Not Home For Christmas

It’s Christmas time

A time for joy

When little children

Un-wrap their toys



Smiles a glow

Giggles and laughter

For a select few

Tainted ever after



For some, their boys

Won’t be at home

They’ll be abroad

And all alone



Representing our country

In a fight that’s not ours

Ducking from gun fire

Scattered like showers.



When their only strength

Is writing letters

And getting replies

To make things better



Parents and loved ones

Don’t know how they are

They panic and worry

Because their child is so far



Not only this

But the dangers that reap

Lying dormant and hidden

For our soldiers feet



They’re only small

But one hell of a finish

It’s easy to stand on

And innocently diminish



So at Christmas time

Just take a second

To think of those

At this time to reckon

I agree with you.We should give more thought to those in military.we don't have to agree about the war or being over there but those who've gone feel they had to by choice or draft whichever but in anycase they are there and should be respected.I'm willing to believe a lot of the military over there really don't want to be there too. I know I'm against the war -any war.......
