By my parents conceived in transgression,

and born by my mother in sins;

but on Your lifegiving cross, my Lord, You relieved

my burden of sinfulness and perfidy,

and bestowed upon me a new destiny,

a place in Your Kingdom, the Heavenly

City, for all of eternity.

I need no longer vacillate or grieve;

no squirm before the inflictions of shame;

nor tear my soul to shreds with endless strife:

from You comes the gift of Faith, that in You I believe,

and believing in You, I have eternal life,

eternal and abundant life in Your Name.

Thank you.  I think it is a paradox; with a similarity (and I say similarity, not equality) to that of Joseph's brothers selling him into slavery---an act which was conceived on the human level in sin, yet on the metaphysical level used by Grace for God's purposes.  My birth parents, who were high school students, conceived me surreptitiously and outside of wedlock.  Seventeen years later, my birth-father (who lived in an adjacent state and had no further connection with me, or with my birth-mother) murdered his then spouse (in no way connected to my birth-mother, or to me).
