Epistle To Horemheb, Pharaoh Of Egypt

His name, that has so wickedly disgraced
Egypt, must now be thoroughly effaced
from every monument and each carved stone
that bears it.  He must be wholly displaced,
from every written evidence removed
so that his very life cannot be proved.
Extracting him from Egypt's history
will have concealed his awful heresy---
still boggling to the mind:  one god, the sun
his image.  Even from your memory,
great Horemheb, he must be put away,
though he was once the best of all your friends.
But you are Pharaoh:  on you now descends
this burden.  And I think that you have known
for sometime what must be fully undone
for Egypt's good.  A rather large work force
will be required for this project, of course.
Whom can we use for this task?  I would say
the Hebrew shepherd folk, up Goshen way.
I have attached, in first draft, a decree
that strips those foreigners of liberty,
and places them in bondage,  Not much lost
to them:  advantages of slavery
will help reduce the monetary cost:
the less the strain upon the treasury,
the less we have to tax, the less to pay.
We can commence soon as Pharaoh shall please
to give assent.  Your vizier, Pramases.
