Here I am again
another storm weathered
another dream withered
another fight to the death.
every emotion wrung out
every hope wrenched
every desire negated.
another line drawn in the sand
another forced heart beat
another relentless cycle complete
happy to be here numb again.
till I thaw.
Expectations cause
Expectations cause melancholy. Desires are the root of every disappointment. People say I'm apathetic about love, but any friend of mine will tell you of my deep passion. I'm not apathetic. I just prefer to live life on life's terms and not have expectations... (or melancholy!!!) Your write takes me back to a time when I was chasing castles in the sky. Give me good hard ground nowadays...I will build a fortress. Even if it be alone.

interesting piece. i know a lot of people who have talked about going "numb" and i can't say haven't done it in the past, but i haven't done it since and i won't turn back. when you start to go back to "normal" and still to feel again it's hard and challenging. i'd rather you take on your emotions and find positive ways to deal with it. your writing is absolutely amazing and if that's how you deal with it keep it coming.
