Overcome The Pain

I thought I was hurt before
But nothing compares to this
You took my heart and crushed it
Said good-bye with one last kiss

The tears I shed meant nothing
They fell in silent song
The melody I cried for you
Lasted all night long

Today the sun beamed in my room
The wake of a new day fair
And though I lay in bed alone
I knew that you were there

Your arms wrapped 'round me as I stood
You watched as I got ready
And when my hands began to shake
Your memory kept them steady

The grave side service went with please
And after followed sorrow
We all felt your presence there
Your lessons now ours to borrow

As I walked in later on
A tear fell fown my cheek
I stumbled over to a chair
My knees felt really weak

Toss and turn in bed that night
Dreams faltered in and out
I saw you walking a hall of light
I knew exactly what that was about

Today is better, the smallest of hope

I will keep getting stronger

I just wish that I had gotten

To hold you a little longer.

For all of you who are wondering, the inspiration to this poem as no one. I felt the urge to write and when I put it all on paper, this is how it came out.

Very nice poem, I was wondering what the story was behind this, then I read your comment. It IS a very touching poem and its beautifull how the inspiration just came to you and transfered itself into these words. Nice.
