The Shores of Life

Folder:
Secular Poetry

I stand upon the shores of life

Gazing out upon the once-tempestuous waters

Now tranquil; shimmering in the fading sunlight.

The loose white sand swirls about my feet

As the tide rhythmically laps the shoreline.

The warm fingers of the breeze

Brush light against my neck.

I close my eyes,

Allowing peace to overtake me.

My soul is finally at ease,

And so I know deep in my heart

That my life will be joyful once more.
