Ashes

Folder:
Secular Poetry

As ashes turn to dust

So do the dauntless wings of Time.

There are words

Words of wonder

Resting against a wispy eyelash.

Memories ride along the wind

And in it, your laughter

A voice my heart so longs to hear.

Waves of joy rise,

Flowing peacefully over the shores of life.

Thoughts deep in a wooden canoe

Float upon waters

So clear I can see in them

Your smile so warm,

Your eyes so bright,

Reminding me of summer sunbeams gold.

And then,

I awake

As from sweet silver dreams

And I, I smile,

Knowing I will see you again.
