Believing, After The Apostle Saint John's Gospel

Belief must be made so real in the soul

that it need not be given physical

substance, or to senses detectable;

only, then, can it be considered full---

more sure than thought, more vital than the heart;

and not divided to fraction or part;

solidly spiritual, and the foundation

of every hope and every exultation

as we receive Grace's gift of Salvation.

The world's terms will always be at a loss

to understand, and will deem it amiss,

desrving only of fierce derogation;

so overhwelming it is---all of this

accomplished by the Lamb slain on a cross.
